Eligibility for Services

  • Referred for Alternative Sentencing/Community Service or the Violence Intervention Program
  • Currently incarcerated in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC) or Alternative Incarceration Branch (AIB)
  • Recently released back to the community from the ADC or AIB
  • Recently released back to the community from a federal or state correctional facility
  • A family member of an individual incarcerated in a federal, state or local correctional facility

Emergency services are available from OAR to assist recently released inmates with transportation, clothing, food resources, shelter resources and/or personal hygiene items.
Clients requesting substantial financial assistance will be referred to Fairfax County’s Coordinated Services planning

Fee Policy

OAR of Fairfax County, Inc. charges fees only for clients referred through the Fairfax County Court system, Probation and Parole or Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP) to the Alternative Sentencing/Community Service Program for first-time misdemeanor offenders as well as persons referred to, or required to attend, the Violence Intervention Program classes. All other programs offered by OAR of Fairfax County, Inc. are at no cost to eligible participants. The following fee structure has been established by OAR of Fairfax County, Inc. Fees are periodically adjusted to cover the cost of administering the programs and are subject to change.  Fees can be paid by check, money order, or debit/credit card.  Cash payments will not be accepted.

Alternative Sentencing Program

  • Court referral: $ 100
  • Probation and Parole referral: $70
  •  ASAP referral: $70

Violence Intervention Program

  • Intake Services: $50
  • Violence Intervention Classes: $400

At an intake interview, program fee can be waived or reduced on a case-by-case basis for those clients who are:

  • Indigent
  • Disabled
  • Unemployed
  • Low-income
  • Sole support of a large family

Re-entry services

TFS case management services are provided to those individuals who enroll in the OAR Work Employment Program (WEP). There is no charge for eligibile clients. The following information explains the process for employment services and case management:

Clients inquiring about WEP services are referred to a recorded message at 703-246-3150.  The voicemail line allows clients to register for an orientation session to gain more information about the Work Empowerment Program. During orientation:

  • The client will complete the WEP Application packet and an Intake Interview Profile
  • Critical information about job search skills will be provided
  • Clients will be assessed for various workshops to enhance job search skills (see below)
  • After orientation, the client will meet with a TFS case manager to complete a service plan and an assessment. The TFS case managers will consistently follow up with the client's employment searches through Employment Search Logs and dialogue. The service plan can address some or all of the following:
  • Obtaining identification
  • Obtaining clothing for interviews
  • Verifying a stable address
  • Verifying consistent contact number and email accounts
  • Assistance with Mental Health, Medical and Substance Abuse issues/concerns
  • Identifying transportation resources
  • Creating resumes and cover letters (see information below)
  • Addressing criminal record
  • Other employment needs (i.e., uniforms or tools)
  • Completion of all assigned workshops
  • Upon completion of service plan goals, clients will be provided with direct employment referrals.
  • Upon employment (or change in jobs), clients will have an Employment Verification Request completed.

Other Work Empowerment Program Services

Interviewing Skills Workshop: held on Tuesdays from 9:30 am to 11:30 a.m. Work Empowerment Program Orientation required prior to attending this workshop.

Resume Writing Tutorial: provided by appointment on Tuesday and held in OAR of Fairfax County's Resoruce Room at our main office 10640 Page Ave., Suite 250, Fairfax.  A skilled, experienced professional will guide you in creating a winning resume so you can land the job you want.
